I live in Mass and recently ordered the BrightAss BA-1 Brake Light for my 09 EG. I bought it for increased visibility and am very pleased. The light offers many different patterns and brightness levels. I chose the three burst pulse followed by the solid brake light staying on. I was just wondering if anyone has run into problems with the police pulling you over saying the light impersonates police or is not legal. Just curious.
dont think they would ever bother you. they know we are just trying to be seen. ive had mine in for a few months now & have been followed by several highway patrols & never been pulled over......(yet)
Those blink, burst, or flashes are annoying, sure they grab your attention, But I don't want the the risk of having LEO have another BS reason to pull me over. After all, they do need a reason and flashing blinking non normal brake lights could be seen as a reason.
If I was a cop I'd pull you over just to F with ya.
Just leave the lights normal. Step on the brake ant the light comes on.
The german engineered cars have adaptive brake lights, the harder you press the brighter it gets.

I had BAL taillight on my last bike. Highest brightness and three pulses. No cops ever did anything but the cars sure stayed back. I'd risk it any time for the safety factor. They'd have to prove you broke some specific law and I don't think they'd mess with that. HAS ANYONE EVER ACTUALLY BEEN HASSLED ABOUT THE BAL LIGHTS?
Two bikes, four years, 46,000 mi -- all with a BAL-1 set to max brightness for run and brake and using the 3 pulse and then solid pattern for the brake light without ever being hassled by any LEO.
My car flashes the high mounted brake light three times, too -- and it's stock.
Never had issues with my BAL. Set at three pulses, then steady. I'll be adding the headlamp modulator from H-D shortly too. Just had a cager this morning in a signal light controlled intersection with the green light giving me right of way; look straight at me and as I approached, turned left. I had initiated scrubbing my speed and felt he would do something stupid and I was not disappointed. He did.

Thanks
Police lighting in all states is either red & blue or all blue, so there should not be an issue in that regard. Pulsating brake lights are not uncommon nowadays, and I can't imagine a police officer regarding the BAL setup, or any other brake light strobe system, an "impersonation" of an emergency vehicle.
California has a law saying the brake lights may not strobe for more than 5 seconds (or so I believe), so even there you should be fine.

Thank you for the "intelligent" comment! What would we do without you?
Any LEO reading your posts might pull you over to "F with ya", but it wouldn't be because of pulsating brake lights.
