I have no experience with Dragonfly, but I couldn't be happier with my Dead Center. It's been great, super customer service, and you can use all harley components on it if you want. Plus it has the lock setup so I don't worry about it walking away while I'm parked somewhere. Good luck
Again Thanks for your responses. I know there's a lot of dead center fans on this forum and I'm not saying anyone is better. I my personal opinion is that I like the dragonfly better because of looks of the fairing as it is facing me when sitting on the bike. The fronts of the fairing are the same. I like it so much I looked at all the fairings I could and still like the look of this fairing. I started this thread because when I was doing my research I found a few members that were dissatisfied with there Dragonfly fairings. I want to order one, but I'm hesitant. This all started when I wanted to add tunes to my ride. I am mechanically inclined but I don't do paint. I would pay there price for the painting to ensure I would get a great piece. Thanks Bob
I am in the same boat as you Bob. I would like one to show up to my door ready to install. On one hand it seems like less risk to go cheap and sell it if it doesn't work out. On the other I can go high end and hope/expect high quality. I have read and re-read so many threads and I am confused. I want to get one, but every thread I read gives conflicting info. I should have paid attention in Laconia and maybe I would have found one.
I'm with you Blackie. I talked with Wayne (Firecap501). He has convinced me that dragonfly, aswell as others are high quality. He also suggested that I find a local painter. He told me I'd be happier with the job. I not only found one but I'm saving $ to boot. More for the stereo. I will be ordering mine within 2 weeks. Search alot and I'm sure you'll find what you want. Thanks Bob
I have a Reckless and couldn't be happier with my purchase. Bought is unpainted and with the 6X9 speaker cut outs. I went down to my auto paint supplier and they looked up the exact paint code and I painted it myself, not that hard for me as I was in that business. Anyway I installed a Sony radio and water resistant speakers and it sounds good with no amp. The only thing a bit cheap about it is the windshield, which is replaceable with any shield made for the Harley three bolt mounting system, I have bought National VStream short dark tent and like it. I'd do it again.
Sorry to the OP for the OT post, but I wanted to respond to the comment about not being able to have an amp on a Woody's fairing.
I couldn't be happier with my Woody's fairing. I thought I may have made a mistake when I realized I couldn't fit an amp in the fairing. However, my recent 4 day trip of mixed 70mph+ interstate and higher speed local highways showed me that the Sony head unit coupled with 2 sets of Polk 5.25's was more than enough to damage my hearing and be heard above my louder than stock pipes (not saying they are the loudest out there). Pulling all the power out of the head unit with two sets of speakers is enough for me.
Personally, I did not like the inner fairing look on any of the competitors. I think Glen's setup is the best: smooth, flowing, and no giant planes of fiberglass.

I like the Idea of 4 spks since most stereos are 4 ch anyway, But that only leaves me using 5.25 spks. Thanks for the King fairing talk search idea did find other posts I've not seen before. I did look at the Dead Centers and chose the Dragonfly because of the 6x9 spkr feature and being able to put an amp in the fairing. I think the Quality of the fairing's should be comparable since they all are widely used and known. I figure If I order it painted, if it's really bad I'd dispute it with my CC. But I really hate going through the BS. Thanks Bob
I guess time will tell & I'll chime in come mid August. I ordered the Reckless fairing with the 6x9 speaker openings without the stereo. As most have stated, by purchasing & installing your own stereo you can get more bang for your bucks. I ordered mine unpainted as well as I just had a local shop do my front fender & bag lid & his work was dead on as far as matching the color. Review to follow when I receive it.
I'm gonna keep watching this thread....been thinking about getting one for my bike. Just not sure how I would do the color.
We did a Deluxe that color not too long ago. We used a slightly different scheme than usual. One of the Ultra's over the last few years had this scheme, and our customer wanted it. I really like the way it turned out.
I like that look. Monstead on this forum has the same bike as I do(actually she had hers first) and Ilike her fairing set up too. Thanks for posting that picture deadcenter cycles.
Well I did it. Ordered one yesterday. Dragonfly had a sale going on for there 10 yr anniversary. 15 % off so I saved almost 150. But shipping got 90 of it. Now I have to gather up the stereo stuff. thx Bob
