Besides the lack of communication by Reckless, I'm damn happy with it! BTW, it is definitely paint ready right outta the box. Now I've just gotta come up with the coin to add tunes & paint.
I hope Dragonfly steps up & gets you taken care of.....
Back in the spring I looked at all the fairings out there for my Heritage and spoke to several of the manufacturers. I had made up my mind on the Dragonfly and when i was on the phone to place my order a post popped up on my facebook that they were headed to the airport to go to Myrtle Beach Bike week. i asked the girl on the phone if they had any already painted vivid black, luckily they had 4 on the truck, so i said sorry gonna cancel this order and get it while I'm there. Sure glad i did that, basically got the install for free. i was really impressed with the install and the sound from the Aquatic AV headunit with the ARC 125.2 amp and out to the Focal 6x9's is nothing short of amazing. I would highly recommend Dragonfly to anyone looking for awesome audio.
I check reviews before I bought my dragonfly fairing and didn't find any bad quality reviews thats why I was so shocked and disappointed when my arrived the way it did .when I asked dragonfly if they quality checked the fairings before shipping she said not if they don't do the paint or stereo install . I don't no maybe it was just a fluke .
My Fairing experience. I got mine on the 24th couldn't wait to open it but had to wait till Friday nite. So at first when I opened the box I saw that the fairing was wrapped in a thin foam and bubble wrap and the box was full of packing peanuts. Found a box with the fairing installation hardware and a few instructions. I lifted it out and removed the layers of wrapping. At first look I was pleased, on the inner fairing around the speaker hole and a few other spots are some white pitting's it stands out against the black gel coat but I figure my painter could fix this. I was looking at the windshield and area where it mounts. first I noticed that the chrome windshield trim bows away from the fairing between the 3 screws, and that the trim sits crooked its off by at least 3/8" because the mounting screws are not level also I see no slot for the windshield. I assume it goes between the inner and outer fairing. Wouldn't this leave a gap where water could get in? The instructions are poor they only show how to install complete unit on to bike and wiring for there stereo. Doesn't show anything about opening the fairing or windshield installation. Didn't want to open it until I talked with them, called today but they are closed on weekends. Also it's completely open inside even there marine cover is open on the back. will have to figure a way of sealing it. Any suggestions? Bob
im sorry but i cant justify what they ask for the fairings, with or without the stereo equipment, its fiberglass, cheap as chips to mould and make, and then for it to be that wrong, i would be fuming
hope you get it sorted Bob
Bob windshield does go between the 2 fairings and water did get inside I need to find something to seal mine I also ordered the chrome trim and it also didn't fit so I didn't put it on I also ordered the marine stereo cover for $50 found the same exact one at Bass Pro Shop for $16 felt like I got ripped off .
Thanks everyone, I took a few pictures last night. I am going to email them and a short letter, call them on Monday about it. Don't get me wrong finish is nice, don't know about fit yet. My fault for not finding out more or seeing one in person about the open under center. But no slot for the windshield or some type of gasket for sealing? Must leave a gap? The windshield trim looks stupid crooked, my 5yr old could drill and screw straiter. thx Bob
