I have a stage 1 a/c with a SERT, Decatted stock head pipes, Rinehart 4" slipons and I have never heard any pinging. Now when I kill the bike after a long ride and it's cooling off I hear some, but that's normal for any bike. My buddies pings from time to time in high heat in sixth gear. Other than that I have no experience with it. But, I hear nothing but good things about Jamie from Fuel Moto. I would think he'd be the guy to get it straightened out even if it took a while.
what about a defective knock sensor?, just bolts on the cylinder head. It is supposed to pull timing out. i do believe it needs a good tune though, alot of various stage 1"s out there, some flow better then others. the comment on how easy a pcv is to tune is incorrect, a sest is the best, get a tuner that knows it, you're done.
My 2012 FLHTK was pinging when cruising at 65 to 75 MPH especially with a bit of a head wind. Ended up having my dealer do a stage one but instead of the standard HD download, they installed the SE Super Pro Race tuner and dyno tuned the bike. The pinging is completely gone and the bike runs great.

Thinking of going this route myself. I have struggled with the annoying pinging lately. Always use 91 or higher octane and use different stations as a test. Seems to be worse when hot and when loaded 2up. Always at highway speed and usually at 70 mph in 6th gear when throttling to pass someone. BTW, my bike is bone stock.
2012 street glide, bone stock. 6500 miles on it. The only pinging I hear is actually when it is cold. If I have to fuel up, with 93 octane, the gas staion is right down the road. I hear it as I pull in at, decel. As long as the bike is running like this, I will not change a thing. The pipes are broken in and sound a bit louder than stock, still a bit quiet, but rather have quiet than a ping.
If you're having difficulty learning your P-V an d tired of your bike pinging then perhaps it's time to find find a dyno opperator in your area who can dyno w/a P-V.
If you get your bike dyno-ed real good you will rid yourself of the ping, but it will cost you $300 or so to do it too.
It wouldn't be a bad idea..if you're lookin' for solutions..
This is exactly why I went with the TTS and a tuner who knows his ****.
I haven't had one single ping and the bike runs great except for the rare POP here and there.
I know we used the same tuner (JD's Cycle Works) from when I posted my results the other day, but one of the main things he concentrated on was Pinging. He took 3 test rides after dialing it in to eliminate it.
I agree, you need to know the perfect balance to get rid of it and it's a bitch to do. Dave did a perfect job that's all I can say.
Yes, I misspelled PINGING and yes I have the PINGING from hell. Did a stage one on my 2012 FLHTK but instead of using a SERT I bought a Power Vision from Fuel Moto when I bought the Vand H power duals with monster ovals. Yes I did email Jamie and he did send another MAP but PINGING is still there. Emailed Jamie again on what to do next but after 2 emails , NOTHING. I have read multiple threads on the subject but not one person it seems has solved this problem. Love my 08 RK with a stage one, just wish the FLHTK was just as solid! PLEASE HEEEELP! FT
I would give FM a call, they have been real go each time I called them.
Sometimes better then an email.
