Just pickup a HD Shifter leather jacket at the local stealers. They had a 15% off sale...paid 272.00.
Even though it is made in China (sweat shop I'm sure) the leather is still top grade. Have a Wilson Leathers
jacket I used before...but its a very heavy leather and with the liner....feels like I'm suited up for football.
Here in FL, decided to get a little lighter leather jacket.....I liked the embossed "Harley Davidson" on the
back. Its not to "hey look at me" looking and has the soft leather feel. My 2 cents.....thanks.
Have the Fox Creek, don't like it. Not heavy duty, just a basic leather jacket. Just purchased the HD FXRG. Fuctional, great fit and very heavy duty. Very warm with the liner you can ride in 30 degree weather. Worth the money! Designed for the serious rider!
Their customer service is unbeatable. I was looking at 3 different jackets from Fox Creek..when I decided on one and placed the order... they called the next day to say there were out of stock and wanted to verify measurements before they put it into production. I told them that I liked 2 other jackets but couldn't make up my mind which one I wanted..they sent BOTH to my house for the price of one. Now of course they would have charged my card for the second jacket had I not returned the one that I didn't want... but still..... how many places do you know that will send you a $400.00 jacket on the honor system???
I think their customer service alone dictates you have to at least give them a look.
That's the jacket I have, but mine is made by Brooks (also American). It's a great jacket. The only thing I had done was to have a two-way zipper installed so it wouldn't ride up on my neck. The first time I wore it was for a trip to the dealer and I had three people ask me where I got it. Not that that's important, but it is a good looking jacket as well as comfortable and functional.
I tried several different jackets and came to one big conclusion....these stupid manufacturers use different size standards, I went to several places and had jackets fit from 2XL to 5XL within a week of each other. I will not buy a jacket I cannot actually try on....to much chance to be playing ship it back for a diffefent size.
I was interested inFox Creek until I saw that no body
armor is available.
Localdealer has FXRGs for 25% off until 3/1.
Gonna check one out tonight.
Jake
Not to belabor the point (or the thread for that matter) my original post had a link to the vented racing jacket ( I thought it most closely matched the fxrg in style) and while it has no armor, the jacket I went with (vented bomber seen here)has provisions for armor in the shoulders, elbows and back.
To each his (or her own) but I'd put my Fox Creek bomber up against the bestanyone else has to offer. With it's liner in place, 28 degree weather is no problem (yes it gets that cold in Savannah...albeit once a year)
But then that's what makes a free market economy so great.. the ability to choose what youwant fromwho you want.

I have a Fox Creek jacket and consider it heavy duty, it's equal too or better than anything I have looked at at the HD shop. It is heavy enough that my friends comment on it being to heavy to wear, they thought that it would be heavy to the point of being uncomfortable.
It is much heavier than the 2 or 3 HD jackets we have, but I don't have the FXRG so I can't make the direct comparison.
I guess us riders with Fox Creek jackets will just have to accept that we aren't serious riders.
I bought a Vanson and tried it on, but then had to send it back. It felt more like a sportbike jacket, as opposed to a jacket you would use for touring duty. Vanson's seem to fit very tight all over (including the arms), so go one size bigger than normal if you want one. They are also not much forhaving pockets, though the quality is good and the leather is heavy. I ended up with a FirstGear Scout IV jacket and like it a lot. It works real well for touring. I should mention that the people at NewEnough Leather were great to deal with.

Steve O you got to be chitting! What style do you have? It must be some type of summer jacket. My foxcreek vented racing is one of the heaviest and well made jackets I have ever seen. I think it weighs about 7 or 8 pounds. Not heavy enough?Add me to the non-serious rider group! [sm=nerd.gif]
Can't say enough about the Fox Creek Leather products, they're all awesome -- jackets, chaps, gloves. They'll product you when you need it and they stand by their products, plus they're made in America, as all things should be.
