All I can give you is cons on both jackets and most of whats been recomended to you so far. If you have ever picked up a real motorcycle jacket you'd laugh at Vanson, Fox Creek, FXRG and all the rest of the Chinese stuff with velcro and shoestrings holding it together. Nylon Garment zippers will not hold up to regular use let alone stay together while sliding down the freeway. That is the reason for a leather jacket right? To protect you when you need it.
Go to Langlitz and have them build you a real jacket and forget about it. You, like me will get real sick of posers with their F/C, Vanson/ Chinese stuff telling you how nice it is and asking where you bought it and how they wished they had gotten the "right one".
My Langlitz turns 40 years old in a few months and I have no doubt it will be protecting someone a long time after I am gone.
Where on earth did you get the idea that Fox Creek is cheap Chinese crap? It is American made to order. I am sure that Langlitz makes beautiful stuff (I'd love to own one), but Fox Creek gives you a whole lot of jacket for the money. I have owned and handled many a cheap foreign jacket and the difference with Fox Creek is night and day.
As Ghost said earlier, I like to try it on before I lay out that kind of cash. I have no doubt that Fox Creek is a superb jacket but being able totry it out first hand is HD's trump card for me. imo
I felt the same way about ordering over the internet. But after reading the testimonials for FOX Creek, I decided to order one for me and one for my wife along with gloves for both of us. All you need to do is use the measurement chart on thier web site, call them and give them your results. They will counsel you and recommend a size. They will ship out within 24 hrs. My wife was a perfect fit. I thought mine was a little too tight so I called them and they sent another size out that day ( told me to keep the one I had for comparison) tried the new one, still not quite right. They sent another one, now I had 3 to compare ( by the way still only charged for one ... Wow ) as it turned out, the one that really fit perfectly was the first one. In other words the one they recomended. I was so use to a jacket not fitting correctly that I didn't know how one was suppose to fit. Quality and customer service from these guys is something I have never seen. I just ordered a pair of gauntlet gloves from them and my son has been trying to find a jacket that compares locally but has now decided that he won't be happy with anything but FOX Creek. Sorry for the long response but I think you will find nothing to be afraid of and a long list of very happy customers.
Steve O you got to be chitting! What style do you have? It must be some type of summer jacket. My foxcreek vented racing is one of the heaviest and well made jackets I have ever seen. I think it weighs about 7 or 8 pounds. Not heavy enough?Add me to the non-serious rider group! [sm=nerd.gif]
Hardly Dangerous,
Weigh it again. Mine is a Classic and it weighs 12#. I agree with you these things ain't light weight. In fact if I wear it around for awhile it gets down right heavy. But then again I only ride every day and like you, we aparently are not serious riders. I wonder when we can join the serious club?
I think i am going to go vanson on my next one, problem is i am a 58 long, or tall, and i need the sleeves like 4 inches longer because of my 18" apes. My harley jacket fits me perfect, till i get on the bike and throw my hands up on the controlls, then the sleeves are way too short
I have a Vanson Mk II Cobra. (perforated body with closeable flaps and zippered vents in the back and sleeves)
It is HEAVY. Hardly broken in at 3 1/2 years of use. Did I say it was heavy?
I might not have bought it had I not tried on one that was about 7 years old and broken in. It was great. Mine stood up by itself for a long time...real stiff.
I did break the pull on the main zipper in May this year and haven't really looked into fixin' it yet.
It took a long time to get, so if I was doing it over again I'd get it custom fitted since it took the same length length of time anyway. I'd prefer it it was a wee bit roomier across the shoulders and chest, and maybe a little bit longer, but if too much it would want to ride up; you don't want that.
Mine fits tight...I don't think there's room to put the armour in if I wanted to.
I'm going to look into some Langlitz pants so I'll have a better idea how their jackets stack up to my Vanson once I do that.
CN
+1 on Schott jackets. Mine is 40 years old and still going strong. I also have a 50 year old Sears Oakbrook that is in even better condition. Talk about standing the test of time!

I think my Fox Creek was $425. I am curious how much the Langlitz boot cut western pants are. Since you've got the catalog, can you tell me the price?
Fox Creek Leather kicks a$$ for sure... Top notch quality and worth every penny. I have the Classic and couldn't be happier. The zippers are heavy duty brass, even the pocket liners are of a tough heavy-duty material that won't rip out and leave you with no pockets like other jackets have done to me over the years.
PS: My FCL Classic weighs in at 9.5 pounds (yes pockets empty). This is a riding jacket, not a jacket you wear around and out to dinner.
