I bought a 2011 ultra limited at the end of 2010 and I got 22,000 miles on it trouble free. the first thing I did was take the seat to uphoistery shop a put 2 inches of high density foam, that made all the difference in the world ,don't buy a new seat, change foam. Baxters Bagger got it right, I did all that he did and the bike runs great, plenty of get up and go.
Greetings, I'm new to the forum and I like the other gentlemen am getting ready to purchase the Electra Glide Ultra Limited. It's great to hear such good things about this bike; since the OL thinks I'm going through my mid life crisis for purchasing one. Appreciate the insights as to what others have added. Look forward to many a happy mile. Ride safe and keep the sunny side up!
I traded for mine over the Memorial Day weekend this year. I have right at 8000 miles on so far without a hiccup. I traded my 04 Ultra for this one and am very satisfied. I have put on 11" mini apes, decatted the stock header pipes, V&H Monster Rounds slip ons, Arlen Ness BS stage 1, PCV w/Autotune, 9" Ultra LRS, highway pegs, Kuryakyn adjustable passenger pegs and the Iron Cross IPod interface.
All of that was just to make mine. You could ride one off the showroom floor and never have to add a thing if you didn't want to and it would be perfectly fine.
Just buy it if you can. I traded a 2011 Road King Classic for the 2012 Limited and never looked back. The motorcycle is fantastic and a joy to ride. Dont think for a minute that you won't do upgrades you will. So far I have done a complete stage 1 kit, hogtunes stereo upgrade added highway peg and a list of other small additions. Buy it and you will love it.
As most previous posts have indicated, it is a nicely equipped ride that you can easily ride off the showroom floor without needing anything, but we all know that somethings will get added, sooner or later, LOL. I added a small hinge line-up bracket for the tourpak lock as it was a PITA, and going to upgrade to Boom Audio Speakers. Added a 8 inch Windvest tinted windshield, and have some small changes planned down the road, such as a painted two tone inner fairing. I like the heated grips and overall the bike rides sweet. Yes it does throw a lot of heat ! Like the chrome wheels as they are easier to clean. Would be nice to have the factory add some more "goodies" to distinguish it from the Ultra Classic, but that is not going to happen any time soon. It is the Top of The Line Electra Glide before going CVO and bigger bucks, and it is a well handling bike when you consider size and weight. Seat height could be lower, but you have seat/suspension options available (check forum search for topics). Overall a nice touring package that is sure to put a smile on your face!
Well looks like I'm gonna be the only one that says he should've bought the Road King. Now don't get me wrong the Ultra is a fine machine but I miss the open feeling of the Road King on a warm summer day. I have spent way to much on mine to trade it in so I will run it for a few years.
The Mods are Fuel moto 2-1-2 pipe, Supertrapp fatshots, TW222 cam Power Vision are the engine mods.
Detachable tour pak, Fosgate amp and speakers all the way around ( find myself riding with the radio off most of the time)
Don't get me wrong this is a great bike but the fixed fairing and Tour Pak add a lot of weight and some of the fun in motorcycling for ME. If I could start over I would get a Road King with leather bags, far less to clean if you are a clean freak like me and way lighter.
2013 110th Anniversary Ultra Limited, Jackpot header pipe, Jackpot 4.5 pro mufflers, K&N air filter, Power Vision tuner, Street glide shocks, CVO Headlight with H9 bulbs, Wheeldock center stand, Boom audio speakers.. Love this bike man.....
Bought my 2012 Limited in May and have 5,000 miles. Extremely well handling and comfortable bike. Traded in a Road King and no regrets. Added a Garmin 660 GPS, Harley Garage Door Opener, Chromed radio, switches and speakers, Vance & Hines 2-1 Pro Pipe and V02 Air Intake with Fuel Pak. Cams and Thundermax Auto-tuner likely next - great motorcycle!
