Default Do you feel her back there!

I have a strong chin so let punches fly...

First off I love riding with my wife, I prefer it actually. I have to say though when I ride solo I just flow..when my lovely in on board some time I have to think about my riding mostly at slow speeds like parking lots. I def feel the extra weight. Always rode solo prior to her, is it like anything else. Get used to it or is there something I can do to make it easier on me..thanks in advance..

Train her to passenger proper, makes all the difference in the world, just tell her what you need her to do, mostly maintain a neutral blanace and not try to lean to control the ride.

Tell her to sit still and not move around. She does not need to "help" by leaning.

I am with fabrik8r, it is really that simple.
Mama and I have ridden together for years, and I don't know she is there.
About 2 months ago we allmost went down, and I had to commend her on the way she dealt with it. Again, I didn't even feel her back there, and thats worth alot when trying to keep the bike upright.

She has no desire to get a bike, or liscense, and I am OK with that.
If I were married to someone who was antsy as hell, couldn't sit still, I may suggest she take a course, and get her own...........

As has already been said above, I tell my passengers not to wiggle, just sit and go with the bike. Riding should not be work, just sit there and let me drive! When wifey is back there I can't tell the difference.

If you don't have one get an intercom, then you talk about the subtle aspects of riding as you go along. I didn't plan it this way, but my wife can read our gps, so we navigate together! If the route is complicated or traffic is heavy, she gives me a commentary on tight bends and turnings, etc. Especially useful last summer going over Alp passes!

only notice the wife as she falls asleep and bumps the back of my head, or when she leans 'early' for a corner to "help" and I have to tell her to stop it! There is always the nice over 40 glow of heat that she radiates as well, could roast dinner she gets so hot at times! As long as she stays as stated above "neutral" then I do not even notice her sitting behind me.

We have friends of whom the husband likes to ride fast. His wife doesn't, so she head-butts him from behind when she's had enough. Their helmets have bruised paintwork as evidence! So be warned - there may be reprisals if you get out of hand.....

MY OL is tiny so, I don't even notice her back there. My daughter is a big girl and I can definitely tell the difference. Riding with her is much more labor intensive... but still enjoyable.
