On the way home yesterday on the superslab as I approached my exit I realized my bike would not come out of 6th gear. I tried more pressure to no avail. I passed that exit and started basically kicking the crap out of the shifter and it finally came into 5th. No issues after that through the gears on the way home. Came in this morning and had no issues.
I ride a 2012 Ultra Classic with no mods. The bike had just came out of the 1,000 mile service where they switched me over to Amsoil.
Has anyne ever experienced this or heard of it??
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!
Jason

You might have pulled your clutch in and waited to long to down shift, sometimes when you do this even in lower gears it can happen. If you want redo your clutch adjustment.
Don't know what Amsoil has to do with your problem but....
Anyway, check to see that the shifter is not hanging-up or rubbing on anything on the bike.
Was the 6th gear green led on the whole time? Did it feel for sure like you were still in 6th? At speeds below 60, that engine should have been lugging like the dickens.
Not sure if a mal-adjusted clutch could cause this or not...but worth checking to see if your clutch is properly adjusted just for grins.
Unfortunately, you can't depend on the fact that the 1000 mile dealer service produces a perfect bike. There are so may adjustments that they don't/won't check.
Good luck with finding out what caused the hang-up.
I dont think the Amsoil had anything to do with it either, that was just the only thing that had changed. Yes, the 6th gear light was on the whole time. Thanks for the responses.
I had a couple of times my limited didn't want to down shift. Took 5000 miles for it to work itself out. Kept the clutch adjusted and switched to Amsoil 75w90 gear lube. I believe the clutch caused it must of the time.
