Default Tie downs

I posted last week that I was looking for a trailer and I had such a good response from folks about which and what kind of trailer to buy and Im happy to say I did find a kendon for sale on Cl in my area for $800. My friend went in half with me so I think we both got a good deal. Now my question is whats the best way to tie it down? I hate to sound like a newb but I am when it comes to trailering. Thanks

Put your bike on the trailer on the side stand. Hook your tie down strap to the left handlebar, where it turns up from the triple tree. Tighten it until it is just snug. Place the strap on the right handlebar, and tighten it until the bike stands straight up.

Using "soft hooks", which are really just short straps, may make the handlebar hook-up easier to accomplish.

Yeah I'd trust my 800 lb bike to the thin walled handle bars! Do a search on here. There are several threads about trailering......like this one below. I think I posted in your original thread. Be prepared, your bike will never be as dirty as after you have trailered it for 500 -600 miles in an open trailer, especially if it rains.........and then there is the chance of rock chips etc.......if you only haul it to the shop, and not cross country, you made a good choice, otherwise, a poor choice IMHO. (not ragging on you here, just giving you the benefit of my experience to do with as you wish.)

I have the chrome tie downs. They are on my bike in the picture and you cannot see them. I use these and the two on the rear either through the rear tire or saddle bag bars.

I have used soft straps on the handlebars in the past a few times but i actually bought the side mounted strap hooks from Kuryakyn... really nice....i also ratchet tie the fork tubes where the fender meets the forks... double safe method... this way i don't have to compress the forks as much also....

Default +1 on Kury

I got a set here from a guy in the touring classified section. I live in WI and go to MI a few times a year and cross the lake on the car ferry so these ARE AWESOME!!!! EVERY time we cross someone else comes over to look at them and say they will for sure get a set of them. Look nice, not gaudy and are extremely funtional!!! Hope this helps
