These are fantastic, I purchased 2 sets of these one for each of my bikes.

I repeat myself: handlebars, saddlebag guards, crash bars/engine guards....all thin walled metal...easily bent....NOT a good place to secure from.

I trailer to and from Florida every fall and spring on a Kendon trailer. I use the Kuryakyn Tie Downs on my Streetglide, for the front. They work great, away from the bars, wiring and fairing, I strap the back down using the bag support bars. I use auto tension tie down straps and the bike becomes part of the trailer, never had a problem.
This is how I do it, very safe...
First, get a set of soft ties...
Feed the end of one just above the lower triple tree, tight fit but will go through, feed one loop through the other...then do the other side.
Start with side stand down, pull strap down on the side stand side, not real tight, just take the slack out, then do the right side, pull down and help the bike stand up straight by pulling on the handle bar while you pull the right side strap, then go back to the left side and pull tight that strap.
Bike should be level and strapped down snug.....always use the Tripp,e trees, very secure this way...leave the side stand down, won't hurt a thing and you need it when unloading.
When you get to your destination, reverse the process, start with rig side, loosen a little, just take the pressure off, now the left side a little, back to the right, let it come over on the stand...easy
