Default More hp needed

I bought a 2012 RG Ultra a few months ago and I have put nearly 6kmi on it now. I like the bike pretty well but i miss the hp and accelleration of my 4cyl yamaha sport touring that I traded in. it had 142hp crank and was pretty fast.
I have been trying to look at what others have done to increase there hp.
The dealer says they can get me about 100 hp for $5k put that on top of the price of the bike and wow.
Also I have people telling me that this will give me a lot at high speeds which isn't where most of us ride and that unless you want to ride in tripple digits a lot its a waste.
I just want a good performance while remaining very reliable.
Road trips are my thing but I do like to get to speed fast . (The Faster the Better.)
I would like some suggestions and maybe the name of someone in the eastern Kansas / western MO. area that really knows what he is doing.
Any help you can give me would be appreciated

You will be making a bad trade, hp vs dollars if you go to any dealer. Start by looking at the info on the Fuel Moto or the Drago's Bike Works websites. These are two of the best Indy performance shops on the planet! You can easily get around 100 hp / 110 torque for a whole lot less than $5K.

Give Frank Drago a call, he is always glad to discuss peformance and what he don't know never happened...

Default horses

dont worry about horsepower,go for more torque.i would rather concentrate on torque and let the horsepower fall where it may.cams and a good tune on a dyno will surprise you.i did a gear drive cam setup along with a big bore kit on my 06 88 in twin cam,and it dynoed 100 ft lbs of torque as well as 95 horses.i like the pulling power more than how many horses it puts out.i had an indy do mine, and it was less than half of the figure that you mentioned.

It's all about the tq #.
DO NOT get caught up in chasing a hp number unless you have ***** envy.

My FLHX makes 100hp/107tq and it moves along plenty quick enough. It's not sport bike quick but that tq gets the job done.

Your FJR was a torque monster, about 90, (I had one too) and if your looking for the way it pulled then build a torque engine, don't chase the HP. If you're looking for that top end rush then, sorry, you're on the wrong bike.

Those FjR's are bad. I had one too. When I switched to a Harley I kept hitting the rev limiter and it seemed so slow. You ain't gonna get a Harley bagger to move that quick. I sure like my bagger though. It is fun without going fast. A lot less chance of going to jail.

You really are. There was a time I had the best of both worlds, HD for cruisin and a sportbike for when I had the need for speed.....either do likewise or go back to the Yammer or you'll go broke trying to make a Vtwin act like a 4 cylinder.

I put a 120R in my bike for $6500 installed. While I haven't had mine on the dyno yet, there is at least one owner on these forums with all but 140hp on a bone stock 120R and the sheet to prove it. 120R's have proven to be very reliable as well.
