Lots of play in throttle after new cables

Default Lots of play in throttle after new cables
I installed all new steel braided cables and now there is a lot of play in my throttle handle it is extremly loose for about the first 1/8 of a turn until it actually starts to engage the cable, any way to correct this ? Also changed out the hand grips. 2001 FLHTCUI

There is an adjustment procedure in the service manual.

Can't remember off the top of my head, but you basically remove the slack with cable adjuster on handlebar end of cable.

As others have said...Just adjust the slack out of the throttle cable using the adjustment near the handle. Just make sure you adjust the correct cable.
