Had a nice storm here Thursday, I think my cover may have played a part in it going ALL the way over. Didn't know it happen till my bedroom window blew into the house, than I saw my bike. Front porch roof fliped over the house and landed in my abouve ground pool. Some house damage due to water blown in from roof vents. Bike damage was minor, scuff the side rail at the bag and the lower edge of the side crash bar, bent frt brake lever in, and I think, but not check for sure bent the right bar up some cause it feels alittle off.
damn, sounds like a serious storm there, hope you get everything took care of. and i have never saw a touring bike get blown over, i have seen a cpl smal bikes
My old Ultra got hit by a blast of wind a few years back during a storm that brought it up to almost vertical as I watched from the showroom window. Just as quickly, it settled back down on it's side stand. Talk about feeling helpless!
Same thing happened to me on a ride home a couple years ago but I had enough damage that insurance took care of everything. Doesn't sound like yours will meet deductible?
I have only heard of that happening to a heavy touring bike one other time in my 35 years of riding. That was a bad Storm in Sturgis that did a lot more than blow bikes over....The hail pounded bikes, cages and campers to pieces! Glad everyone is ok. Looks like it just missed the Stang as well?
I was coming back from Sturgis last year and running hard to stay ahead of the storm that blew the stage over at the Indiana Fair, but couldn't stay ahead of it. Just as I pulled under the cover of the front entrance of a hotel near the fairgrounds in Indiana and got off the bike, the wind hit hard. I watched it stand my fully loaded Ultra Classic up straight. I jumped back on it and held it up until the wind died off some. Scary **** and of course I got soaked as I watched the horizontal rain blow so hard it blew water around the inside of the glass of revolving door on the front of the hotel and into the lobby.
As I was checking in, the reports started coming in on the stage collapse at the Fair on the TV in the lobby of the hotel.
You see some crazy friggin' weather riding across country.
