Huge difference in air hitting you, and buffeting, as already has been explained. Until you try to ride any distance with a buffeting issue, you'll never understand. Even my RK with that huge slab of plastic on the front gets it pretty bad if I take air deflectors off the forks. With them on, I still get enough air to flap my shirt around, but not so much that it causes my eyes to rattle around.

I'm one of those who never get it on the bike, but I've had my kids decide to roll the side rear window down in a car at around 70-80 mph, buffeting will drive you nuts. Needless to say the window came back up fast, and lock placed so driver had control.

I didn't think it was that bad a problem until I installed the fork air deflectors (fangs). Suddenly I had solved a problem I wasn't sure I had and will never take them off.

My 10 RGC with the stock wind deflector was unridable at interstate speeds. The air was so turbulent I literally couldn't see straight. Not only was it extremely uncomfortable, but dangerous too!

I had a Deuce with a Windjammer on it. The Windjammer looked sweet but allowed lots of air up under it that met air coming around from other directions. The resulting buffet actually shook my brains out! I had to lose the Windjammer. The air flow was so bad I had to squint just to see unless I wore a full face shield. That was buffeting.

You've never experienced it because of your bike so, no, your opinion doesn't count on this one (it's as relevant as the opinion of a cager). JMHO.
I think that is correct. I read alot of "buffetting" threads that complained about "touring bikes" without specifically identifying the type of bike. As a result, I had the same thought as the OP--that the expectations of the posters were unrealistic for a motorcycle rider. But then I started checking the signatures and "garages" of the posters and realized that it was almost exclusively the batwing owners. We on Road Kings do not experience it generally. The only time I get anything resembling buffeting is when I have my feet on the highway pegs at high end highway speeds. My size 12 boots and long legs apparently disrupt the slipstream and, under certain conditions, I get some mild buffeting. As noted on most buffeting threads, its not really about windshields (or even fairings). It's about air coming from underneath.

Buffeting sucks big time...especially if you wear ear plugs while riding...the thumping is magnified 1000 times.

I agree.....people who say whats the big deal obviously have not truly experienced buffeting....and if they have and say the enjoy it.....well damn...that is just friggn weird

You should read the title of the thread, if it has the word buffeting in it then you should not read it. Problem solved. Or if it is that bad you should sell your damn computer and buy a book.
