OK I have been forgetting to ask this since I got the bike 4 months ago. My bike is an ex-police bike and on the tach is a red lite up P. What is it for or should I be worried?
To show "PURSUIT" lights are on. I found it on line.
What he said. I have a FXDP, when the p came on it had me freakin out for a minute. Until I figured that the red switch on the right handle bar control its.
My red switch on right controls ax lights and isn't on pursuit but stays on. Well it dosn't annoy me or anything just wondering. Thanks guys
On my FLHTP the P lights up unless I have the red Pursuit switch flipped all the way to the right. My Aux lights are controlled by a rocker switch on the fairing.
As others stated, the P is for the pursuit light switch. When "civilianized", the red and blue pursuit lenses on my FLHP were swapped out with clear spots. The "wig-wag" relay was removed and now the Pursuit switch is what turns my spots on and off. They can be used with both the low and high beam headlight on. I leave them on all the time, but like being able to flash them with the Pursuit switch on the handlebar if I want to get someone's attention, or signal to a trucker that they can move into the lane in front of me. The HD service guy called the spots "Passing" lights, so to me the red P lets me know that my passiing/spots are on. I like the visual reminder, but have done little riding at night. I can see how that might be a little distracting.
