Looking for some advice/opinions. I've got an 07 Street Glide...completely stock (except the corbin dual tour and chrome front end of course). Anyway, at the dealer I've got sitting in a corner a new SERT, 2" Rush slash up slipons and SE/AC. My question after considerable research is a "bolt-in cam" would be the icing on the cake. Narrowed it down to the Andrews 26G or the SE 204. Spoke with the dealer today and he noted with him installing the SERT, slip-ons and A/C ......no issue with the warranty....at any dealer...kind of the "unwritten" rule among them. Add the SE 204 cam into the picture and no problem at his dealership and "probably not" at others. MoCo should stand by it since all HD he said. Put in a 26, all bets are off on the motor warranty...and I've still got 18 months left on warranty.I'll have the dealer install the right basicSERT mapif I don't get the cam...and hold off on the dealer dyno (can't really tune in a bike correctly with a SERT in 2 hrs I'm told). If I do add the cam to the package, then would you guys have the dealer dyno (as opposed to another albeit different SERT map) or save the money and geta "real tune" done by an excellent SERT tuner (I know of one done here on central FL). Would the Andrews be that much betterthan the SE 204 with my package?
The Andrews 26H would likely be noticibly better and if the Andrews is a consideration, you should also take a look at the new HQ-TC-500-HC. It's a new grind for the 07's and it's an awesome bolt-in!
Warranty is a really funny thing. If you've been putting some miles on your bike for the last 6months, then it's more than likely mechanically sound and would be unlikely to need warranty work on componets that might make them squirm.
FWIW..... My preference would be in the following order:
HQ-TC-500-HC
26H
204
26G is a gear drive cam which is why they would hesitate backing it - they would have more experience installing HD cams. For me, I wanted to get rid of the inner chain drive components even though my warranty doesn't expire until March of '07. I just think a gear drive cam makes more sense and the 26G performs beautifully in my RK with stock jugs. I am slowly getting the itch to go to the 95" build sooner than next winter. Might happen this spring. You might as well go with what your dealer recommends since he'll be doing all the work anyway.
