Michigan roads suck a$$!! I kid you not, on a stretch of road I ride too and from every day, there are fricken speed bumps about every 50 feet. they aren't little 1 inch bumps, they are literally about 5-6 inches high and and scare the sh$t out of you if you aren't paying attention!
I feel as a motorcycle rider, these are hazardous for us. There is no way around them as the stretch across the entire road, and 70-80mph its tough to hold on sometimes!
I ride the expressway to and from work everyday. The right and middle lanes on I-75 from the Michigan/Ohio state line all the way up to the I-75/I-275 interchange, both north and south bound, are total jokes. The concrete is crumbling under the overloaded semi trucks. The Monroe County Road Commision will cut a section out and replace it, but in a year or two it sinks lower than the level of the rest of the road, and it creates another hazard.
It doesn't help that Michigan has a higher limit on trailer weight than most states, and a wicked freeze/thaw cycle. Add that to the fact that road repair budgets have taken a hit in the last few years, and it doesn't look good. It is going to get worse before it gets better.

Same thing here in N. Ca. on 101.Mostly in the right lane.
I travel to OH several times a year and have to agree with Michigan's part of I-75 sucks.
Not encouraging lawsuits here, but cant help but wonder if a biker wipes out because of potholes and other road hazards, that just dont get fixed in a reasonable amount of time, has any chance of winning a settlement from the state/county. I mean, don't we pay for road maintenance through gasoline/licence fees/ tags/ registration fees and other taxes. They are neglecting some roads here in ontario too...i assume they are spending "road" money elsewhere.
Yeah the pot holes that exist in the lane dividers are pretty ridiculous as well. You really have to time it just right to avoid getting your front tire caught just the wrong way!
Yikes! Speed bumps on a 70 mph road is crazy. I'll bet there would be lots of folks willing to jump on a class action law suit band wagon. There is a bridge on an Oklahoma turn pike around Oklahoma City which feels like that but it is just low budget construction (lowest bidder) poor quality work.
I used to live in Mich, and still visit about every other year, I know what you mean about the roads, a lot of people say Florida roads are boring, but they are for the most part smooth, which you can really appreciate after having lived somewhere with endless pot holes.
