Sorry - was out of internet for a while. You can't get to those bolts very easily on my Road King. I have had a couple of guys who have put the securing bolts on there, too. Never heard of anyone taking the bags off that way, though. They go the easy route - which is the quick release system where they can pop them off in a few seconds.

Unfortunately, you need to protect yourself from the lowest elements of humanity, not the mainstream.

I lock my lids, check that the lugs are snapped in, and the pins inside are wired together so they cannot turn. I am not saying that a thief could not cut the retaining wire behind the bags, but most thieves are creatures of opportunity, not creativity.

When I hear someone has lost a bag, it means to me that they did not center the saddlebag and make sure that both lugs were snapped in. I have caught mine when the bag was not centered correctly where the lug turned and held it, but was not locked. If both do not snap in, I re-center the bag and try again. It happens. On my shovelhead I rode away with one lid undone. It flipped off, I saw it, stopped, turned around as fast as I could to see a truck run over it. Oh, well, I got more careful after that.

I went to Lowe's and got 4 Hillman Speed Nuts (3/8-16 U-type) and Allen bolts that fit along with washers like the original with smaller holes. Spent about 5.00 on everything. Only had to Pinch the ends of the U shaped part to squeeze it together more with a vise grip. The're not coming off now.....

Not to take away from Brukus though, his solution was made for a stock look on the bike.

A thief can pop the bags off in seconds, locked or not. There are bands of thieves that do this and threads on here about that happening. We hear from customers who are either replacing the bags or had fellow riders in their clubs have it happen to them all the time.

There are stories on our website and testimonies from cops. We are now selling our SaddlebagSecure to cops for the purpose of securing them.

Not a scare tactic, just stating what does happen.

Just a quick follow up.

I purchased a KickShoe a couple of weeks ago, but only installed it yesterday. Took me longer to jack up the bike that it took to install the shoe. I did use some blue locktite just to be safe and I changed the kickstand (jiffystand) spring at the same time. Definately a quality product from Brukus. I like it because I now don't have to use a 4"x4" piece of aluminum plate to park at work (new asphalt and it's real soft). The only concern I have for the shoe is the screw cover. It doesn't seem too secure and I'm worried that it may come off. Perhaps the Brukus' crew can chime in here and advise if we should use some glue (sparingly) on that screw cover.

Overall a good product.

Thanks for the great review! Appreciate you taking the time to make the comments.

No worries about the snap cap on the screw. Shouldn't come off. But if it does = just let us know and we'll send you out a new one. No charge. We also sell those on our website for $1 for both pieces (snap ring and cap). It serves no purpose except decorative to cover the screw and give a cleaner look.
