Default luggage strapdown

I am taking a solo trip on my streetglide and trying to decide whether to strap my lugguge bag to the sissy bar/luggage rack (facing rearward) or strap to the sissy bar/rear seat. I think I would have better handling with the luggage in the rear seat position, but I have a back rest already and like the looks of it strapped on luggage rack....

Y'all have a preference?

As long as you strap it down so it does not move or fall off you should be OK either way. The more straps the better IMHO

I use the passenger seat. Better to have the wieght on the bike, then to hang off my cargo rack way in the back. Just me though.

I attach the HD passenger grab rail to my bike for trips it makes for a really good tie down point. Makes for a nice backrest too and keeps your center of gravity low. It's also easy to remove when I'm back from my trip.

Thanks, thinking I'll start off with the luggage hanging off the sissy bar/luggage rack. I figure if ultras can have the huge trunk, then my luggage should not be much different in terms of weight distribution.

I put mine on the luggage rack, and don't notice any difference in handling.

If you set it on the seat you can use it as a back rest.

When I'm solo, I put the T-bag on the passenger seat, and my sleeping bag on the rack. I can put water bottles and other stuff in side pouches of T-bag that I can reach while riding.
