Cruising down the highway between 60-65pmh and had 3 deer jump out in the road in front of me today around noon. Since it was the middle of the day I was not looking for them. I am here to testify that ABS brakes work as advertised.
Just a reminder for everyone to be on the look out for those 4 legged critters. I hope everybody had a good riding day!
I can relate.
The other day coming back from Hill City SD during the Sturgis Rally I seen 1 white-tail go across the road about a 1/2 block in front of me and I thought, "ok where's the rest of em"? and was kinda parinoid especially since my wife was with me as she generally is anyway, but none came no more... but I was still on/in the mode..
I hadda real close friend die back in 84 from a deer wreck...

Yep, speaking from experience..... Just totaled my 2006 VTX 1300C about 2 weeks ago due to a bad combination of a deer, thick fog and pre dawn.... Not anything I care about doing ever again!
Last Tuesday early evening a friend and his wife were going home on his HD trike when they struck a deer. Both were thrown from the trike.
Sorry to say he passed away this afternoon.
Glad to hear it was a close call rather than the alternative..... Smoked one last September and it wasn't fun. Like KC Classic just posted.... Most people not so lucky.
Yep similiar here, back last September had a young doe run out next to us and run beside us on our left, was able to get slowed down enough that she made it around in front but by that time was at edge of road bed and got slammed and 10k of repairs later and I got a virtually new scoot with 37k on it!
As a side note I made up for it during deer season by putting a few of her cousins in the freezer

Sorry about your friend. If you have been riding for any length of time you will know someone who has been seriously injured or killed from an accident with an animal.
I totaled my 99 Standard last year but I was trying to avoid colliding with an automobile. I topped a hill and there was a car stopped in my lane of traffic. When I slamed on the brakes the rear end came around and threw me off. This all happened within a few seconds. So I know what its like to hit the pavement a 55mph.
Yesterday 3 deer jumped up out of a ditch in front of me. I grabbed all of the brakes I had and the Ultra, with ABS, came to a stop in no time. This happened within a few seconds. The bike never swerved and stayed upright.
I was meeting a car at the same time and we came to a stop just a 10 feet from each other. I could read his lips. We both said **** at the same time.
Any ways I'm just bragging on my ABS brakes. If you don't have them make sure they are on your next purchase.
