1000 rpm, plus or minus 50 is where the late model touring bikes really, really, need to idle for proper oil pressure and to keep the oil squirting on the bottom of the pistons. The potato-potato-potato sound has gone the way of American made Harley Davidsons.
Thanks, didn't know about it losing too much oil pressure, geuss I'll just have to listen to the smooth idle for now.........until I decide to upgrade the cams or get a CD LOL!
+1 Years ago, had a friend who had an "electric only" shovel ..... no kicker. He picked up a kicker cover and rigged it with a spring so the kicker would return, but never put the internals in it to make it a real kicker. He would leave the bar, jump on the kicker at the same time he hit the button. Damn bike always started on the first kick.
