I tunes is the way to go. you can rip any cds you currently have to mp3's. You can pick and choose what songs you want to write back on your mp3 CD. And recently I found a nice little software ( StreamripperX) that allows you to record or RIP streams from I Tunes radio stations. Builds a music library quick.

 

MP3's won't play on 05's and later. Beleive 06 and newer will.
