I searched and couldn't find an optimal thread. A friend of mine just purchased a 2012 Street Glide as upgrade from his 2005 Road King.
He has a King Tour Pack which he likes, and would like to adapt it to mount on the newer style tour pack mounts, and just get it re-painted at some point.
Has anyone ever done this? I've not looked at it personally, he says that his tour pack has ribs on the bottom that would inhibit it just being drilled and mounted on the new rack.
If anyone's done it and would care to share instructions or pointers (or pictures), that would be great. THX!
I did it on my 2010 streetglide. I have the older style fiberglass tourpack with the new style quick release mount. The only thing that needs to be done is underneath in the center of the pack there is a rib. This rib needs to be put in front of the cross bar on the mount or behind it. Basically the pack with be mounted two inches back or two inches forward from where it would normally sit. I mounted mine two inches back for more room for me and my girl.
I had a Chopped Tour Pak that I drilled new holes in for the newer style rack
and there is a spacer that goes in the front to make up for the rail in the back.
