Default saw the cvo's yesterday and now i'm really backwards

i've been saying for a year that if they come out with a cvo rk - i want one. right now i have a 2010 limited. have done a few mods to make it mine, nothing over the top.

yesterday i say the red cvo rk and the anniversary rg. the colors are out of this world. i will like the paint on all three models. the red had the typical SE motor, but the rg had the blacked out one. not sure i like the motor colors.

i absolutely love the clean rear end on the cvo's and am delighted i could do that now to my ultra if i wanted to. the 110 is nice, however, i'm ok with my tuned 103. the wheels are amazing, although i could buy those also if i wanted them on my limited.

i think the cvo rk needs auxiliary lights to look right, but thats easy. i'm also not sure if the lowers "fit". they looked a little awkward, but i think the aux lighting would help that.

bottom line is that it would be a $15k upgrade for me and i'm not sure it's $15k of pleasure. one of my goals was to rid myself of the fairing, but that's not worth the money either, i don't think. the tour pak is detachable on my limited and i mostly ride it in SG mode.

i think i can dump about 3k more into my limited and add a few more do dads -

it feels like a no brainer to keep my limited. thoughts?

thx - tin

It seems as if you've already thought this through and made a decison. I don't know how your financial situation is, but 15K is quite a chunk of change. 3K would be a much easier pill to swallow. (for me, anyway) If your LTD were a little older, a little less shiny and you had tired of it, I'd say go for the CVO. The scenario you've presented doesn't make it appear that way, though. Spend a few bucks and modify the LTD to how you'd like it. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I agree.. Spend some $$ on some wheels and clean up the rear end and your Ltd will be set. Why rid the batwing? Much more creature comforts when you take to the open rode....

thanks gearhead. the $15 wouldn't break me - but it's not a sound use of money. i agree with your synopsis.

...... you've already got a wonderful motorcycle
.... if the CVO is special enuff & the $15k isn't an issue, id go for it .... you'll never stop & have to think 'what if'
........ that said, i'd prob'ly add the few k$ to the LTD and have a wonderfully personalized tourer that does everything you need.

Then again, it's your $$$$, and CVO's do hold their value a bit better.

You only go around once...

If you're financially stable, and can swing it get what you want..

No one has ever regretted buying a CVO. Never.

my question about the CVO RK (and I agree about the lowers and no aux lights) is this..."what can you do to it, besides the aux lights, to make it yours"? I mean, part of owning and riding a harley is the fun of customizing it. so what's really left to do on a CVO? just thinking out loud....

I'm REALLY thinking about an Ultra CVO.

I have a deposit on a Limited Anniversary Edition but the color in the internet pics looks horrible.

I'll probably wait until I see the bikes in person to make up my mind but either CVO (Typhoon Red or Tribal Orange) is a go for me and the BOSS.

Funny, I'm kind of in the same boat....but different. My choices are a $16K used RKC or a used $30K CVO street Glide. CVO is a beauty but is it worth damned near double? Man, I'm not sure. Then you still have to add motor work on top of that. That's a TON of extra jake. They do hold their value better though just based on the pricing I'm seeing. $3-4K more? The choice is easy. When your talking $15K that's a LOT of money regardless if you have it or not.
