Can anyone tell me the difference in the New "Stock Pipes" for the Bikes with a Cat in the head pipe vs the Older Pre-Cat head pipe "Stock Pipes"
I have a set of Slash up pipes from my old 2006 Road King was thinking of installing them since I am in the middle of a de-catted head pipe install and air kit and fuel pak.
I have a set of modified stock exhaust gotten from a friend. They sound ok but I like the slash up looks.
The mufflers will fit off your 2006 bike but the header will not due to the frame change in 2009. The pre cat pipe from. 2009 will work with an O2 adapter and the 2009 uses 18mm O2 sensors and are up toward the head and the 2010-2013 use 12mm sensors thr are further away from the head.
It can be generally assumed that "non cat" mufflers are MORE restrictive than the mufflers for bikes with cats.
as the cat is in itself a restriction to flow and sound waves
for example the "complaint for 2010+" Screaming Eagle Nightsticks are way loud on a 2009 49 State which has no cat.
slip on muffler fitment is often referred to as "1995 and up", a header flanged changed into 1995, diameter is the same-
pre 1995 mufflers will slip on to later header pipes
as noted above header fitment depends on model and year

So Mike if I understand what your saying correctly, the only diff in the 09 pipe is the 18mm bungs up by the exhaust post otherwise they are the same......so if for example I want to put an 09 VH ProPipe on my'11 so I can have the 18mm bungs for future AutoTune feature of my PCV then I should get the'09 instead of the'10-'11 model...correct?
I put 2009 mufflers on a 2010 RKC because I was actually trying to get quieter than stock and it did what I wanted. The 2010 mufflers look completely different on the inside, at least the right side and they are a lot louder than the 2009. A few months ago I met a guy with a stock 2010 and we compared them side by side revving them sitting still. Mine was twice as quiet.
Ok then I should be good then. My 2006 RKC was bought here in CT and I removed the Slash up stock mufflers.
Hmmmm maybe I will try them on my newly De-catted 2012 and see how they sound. The American Custom modified stock pipes are loud and now with the de-catted head pipe I bet they will be too loud for my liking.
