How ya gonna load it? I don't think I'd trust plywood to hold up and 2X6 better not move around. Maybe a 2x12?

A 4x8 sheet of plywood will stick out just as far as the tailgate will so there is nothing gained by going that route. Have the ol' lady drive the rig down and you ride the scoot otherwise you have a choice to make and personally I wouldn't risk the scoot in the back of a 6' bed.

the old lady will not be going, also i never planned on picking this bike up i found it on craigslist and bought it that second. sooooo thats my dillemma .. as far as the 4x8 goes i can cut the 4x8 to maybe a 2x8 to fit under the wheels and the boat will not hit a thing it hits the tailgate when down only about 5 inches to each side if you can kinda picture that. so a narrow board might work, my issue is i dont know the how far back the wheel is going to sit i think the bike is 8 ft long no worries there but where will the back tire sit? at what length?

hmm another thought is to bolt the plywood down through the bed with 4 bolts and block the front tire in use 8 tie straps incase one breaks. i own a landscape company and have the right trailers for this but it would make the trip down unpractical i custom built this boat and it took about 3 weeks complete. i do have loading ramps and correct ways to load the bike i have a yamaha r6 also and am used to loading a smaller 500 lb rocket. 800lb is a stretch and will have help loading and unloading i want to make sure on secure

Can you park the bike diagonally in the bed of the truck. This should give you a bit more length.

Maybe one of the EG owners here could measure the distance between the front fender tip and rear tire foot print on their bike?

Ah, ok a few more details makes for a clearer picture. I just quickly measured my scoot and come up with approximately 64" axle to axle and 13" from front axle to front of tire. That overshoots the 6' bed by 5". The scoot may fit diagonally.

Make sure to measure from the fender, not the front of the tire. The fender overhangs the tire by a few inches.
Then add a couple of inches for 'bounce' room.

Cut a piece of plywood about 6" wide by the length of your above measurement, then screw two 2x2's to either edge. Roll the bike into the bed of the truck, with the tires on the plywood, between the 2x2's. Bolt the plywood to the bed so that it doesn't slide around. This will keep the bike from 'walking' while you're transporting it.
