Cruise Control
[harangue]
There are a number of threads on this already. Rather than get started with my usual long-winded harangue, I'll just say that it can be done, but make sure you have a service manual handy, as it refers to it with little explanation on some important steps. The wiring and initialization procedures were not in my instructions, and even took quite a bit of searching to find some of it in the manual. I would also read all the recent threads on this forum about installing it before doing anything, as IMO it isn't an install that should be initiated by someone with little mechanical experience.
Points to understand before starting the installation:
1. Wiring the CC switch to the existing harness (i.e., where to insert the mini-connectors)
2. Installing the mini-connectors to the harness
3. Initialization procedure
There, I got long-winded anyway, but less than usual. And BTW, the CC is a very worthwhile upgrade! Do it regardless of who you decide will install it!

Lightu: Road King or Electra Glide; what year? The installs are different for RK's and EG's; also the cruise units are different (possibly) depending on the age of the bike.
And as said above, do a search and you will find a tone of information.
Last, do yourself a big favor and spend the $46 (from the 20% discounters)on an HD service manual for your bike; it will explain the stuff that is not in the cruise control installation instructions: e.g. how to remove the outer fairing, how to install the new right hand (and perhaps left hand it it's and RK) handlebar switches, housing, et.
It is definitely a do it yourself project requiring no special Harley tools.

Not sure if it was a good price but my local Stealer charged me $100.00 to install on a 2006 RoadKing and the parts were not even purchased thru them. Was nice just to drop it off in the am and pickup in pm.
I had the dealer install the HD cruise on my 2007 Electra Glide Classic prior to taking deliver. Sure is nice going down the hi-way. First motorcycle I had cruise on it. Highly recommend cruise control. You can purchase a service manual from your local HD dealer or www.cyclemanualstore.com. For an 06 it should be 99483-06.
