Default Not impressed with Cams

I had a set of Andrews 26A installed on my 01 FLHTC TC-88, Carb bike while I had my chain tensioners replaced. I do notice the bike starts more quickly and I like the rumble at ideal however, I really don't notice a big difference in power. I'm running a Jetted stock carb, Hi flow filter, and true duals. I assumed I would have noticed a bigger differnce....

I agree with you and felt the same way with my Andrews 21. I did notice an increase by the seat of my pants. I really think to achieve maximum benefit, one also has to flow the heads and do a piston swap with the jugs bored out. New cam plate, lifters and oil pump doesn't hurt, either.

26's shine on 95" Big Bores due to the higher compression that comes with the bigger pistons. 88" is a little light in that dept.

I'm very happy with my 26's vs the HD 203's that first came in my bike. ( 95" Stage II.)

This is the same issue I have been suggesting for yrs...the 26's without a big bore are useless. The big bore is what makes everyone think the 26's are so great...

Interesting. My upgrade to the Andrews 21 was a huge difference. I had already upgraded the jets in the carb. And my fantastic Indy tweaked the carb settings. Could not be happier for the money spent.

I put the TW21's in my 06 EG earlier this year and was not impressed until I had it dyno tuned-man what a difference a good tune can make. Drastic improvement. Stock 88 (except for the cams) with Big Sucker intake and Wild Pig slipons and it is now at 90ftlbs torque.

At least the 21's provide a slight increase in cylinder pressure from stock 88

problem is a cam change sometimes needs associated changes in iginition and compression...emphasis on the compression to really make it a big wow factor. swapping out cams alone with out the associated changes really won't bring much.

Next step Stage II, big bore...with Mikuni 42 HSR Flatside Carb. I insatlled the Mikunit 42 on a Road Star I had and that carb made a noticiable Differnce over the stock CV.
Thanks for the comments.

Might be worth while to try a thin head gasket to gain a little compression
