When you shut both switches, there is still power going to the speedo odometer.
Why would they run continuous power to this and not to the ECM.
I've used the kill switch for years without problems. I'm calling BS on this one.

Besides, when you turn the ignition switch fuel pump starts, all kind of checks happen at the ecu... I'm willing to bet the opposite is true all the kill should do is cut the spark. If you turn the ignition you're killing the fuel pump and all power at the same time.
The ECU and radio store their information in non-volatille memory which does not require constant power for long term data retention.

On the bikes I have bought the dealer told me that not using the kill switch could damage my charging system . Don't know how true but I'm not the mechanic... O know when I shut my car off I just turm the key. Why should bike be any different?

I must have missed the "Kill Switch Bulletin", seems like BS to me, but who knows.

The radio has an internal battery that keeps your settings for a few minutes but if you disconnect the battery for about an hour your radio will lose it's settings. Also the standard ecu reset procedure is to disconnect the battery for a while.

Using the kill switch voids the warranty.

I think that it is interesting that both myself and another member has requested someone from fuel moto and/or another tuner jump in with their opinion and they have not. Their silence is deafening, so maybe there is something to this and it is not bull **** afterall.

Just got a call from another indy shop my friends use, they too say NO on using the kill switch, there is a potential to roll a little throttle on or off with the new TBW electronic controls and that is the actual cause of trouble when thumbing the switch when coming to a stop on later machines. Personally my hand was always off the grip when shutting down but I am no longer challenging the issue.

They did state there is a issue on the older cable throttle machines with aftermarket ECU devices(PCIII/IV, FUELPAK) they are unsure of when or how it developed but in the same respect the ECU add on does not respond well and tends to overcompensate or actually fail during kill switch stops. They are a Custom build shop in Central MO and have had some poor dealings with this phenomena on their upgrades and builds having to eat quite a few warranties until they figured it out.

I agree, my results are probably less with the machine and more to paying more attention to operation of it resulting in better overall run but there is no sense in challenging a possible to break my ride.

i use the ing switch 99% of the time just makes more sense to me just on the dead battery possbility, your shutting the bike off anyway just makes sense to shut it all done at once
