Ok. I see your point. Would you be able to cut the boom amp out of the picture and add a 4 channel amp like you mentioned so you can use the mp3 hook up and the boom's volume control? How big would an amp like that have to be?

Thanks! I've never seen/heard or that. It would also solve the splitter issue since they have multiple outputs.

The speaker lid set up has an amp as well, and an optional volume control module. I just need to find out if there's a way to wire the speaker lids volume module wires into the boom audio module. If that's even possible!

The Booms audio control runs through the amp so that wouldn't work either. You could use the Ipod volume control though...Just need a four channel amp that can be moded to accept a 3.5mm. You could use a 3.5 to RCA plug but the signal output of the Ipod is so low it wouldn't be very loud. With all this said I think the way to do this is to go from the ipod to a signal booster (Boostaroo or the like) to an 3.5/RCA cord and into the amp. You would have to use the Ipod volume controls but it would work...

I toyed with doing a similar set up before I decided on helmet speakers instead. I was looking at marine audio stores/sites for amps and speakers. A good marine audio place will have the different pieces you need.

I have installed on my RK the MHI Rumble Road with built in Amp, I added a quality in-line volume control and can plug my ipod or android phone to it, in addition when i use my phone gps i can hear the voice directions nice and clear.
They sound good enough even at high speeds

The MHI system does look good, but I'm really looking to stay away from the bar mounted speakers. I like the Boom! audio windshield kit so I can take it off with the shield. Like the idea of an in-line volume control though, thanks!
