Thx fo the heads up on the list of tools. I will also check out the site that you suggested.

I have a good compliment of tools, the torque wrench, manual ect., But wht 36 MM and 10 MM sockets. I have not run into mettic fasteners on the bike yet, unlike my truck which has half SAE and half Metric.

How about the great and almighty eBay??? I found a pair of new AVON VENOM tires (150/80-16 & 90/90-21") for $270 delivered to my door.... This guy's site The Motorcycle Parts Store has all kinds of new tires at great prices and 5,000+ sales and a 99.8% rating I am going to give them a try!! Wish me luck!!

I had venoms on my last ride ( A valkyrie ) the bike handled well on the original dunlops but the Venom R's made that big ol beast handle lie a sport bike. The avons are soft and sticky and great for cornering, but they dont last as long.

Good luck i dont think you will have a problem.

Al,

The rear axle nut on the new Electra glides is 36mm. I damn near drove myself crazy trying to find a fit from the pawn shop one socket at a time. Finally called the HD shop to find out the right size. The 12 point bolts that hold the front brake calipers on are 10 mm, and it has to be a 12 point. The calipers have to come off to remove the front tire.

Regards,

Bill

Bill

Thanks, i would probably have done the same thing. I have the 12 point 10 MM, i will have to get a 36mm, I assume a 6 point will work? Also, do you recommend the HD belt tension gauge or do you have another kind that works as well?

thx

Allen

I change and balance my own tires and it isn't that bad of a job. One word of caution when purchasing tires on ebay or any online source is to ask what the date or code of when the tire was manufactored. Some of these people are triing to offload their old stock. I had good luck with www.ronayers.com

Al,

I have the HD tension gauge. I don't know if anyone else even makes one. The HD unit is about 15.00 I think. The 6 point 36 mm will work.

On the tires from AMT. I ordered Arleen's Saturday night and they got here today.

Regards,

Bill

Bill, picked up a socket last night after work, 9.95 out the door, ordered the tire , sent it groung so it probably wont be here util friday or monday.

What kind of tire tools do you use for removing the tire. I have an old set of Spoons that i was going to use but i am not sure about using them aginst the MAg wheel.

Any thoughts?
