I have a 07 roadglide. (48k miles)
It has a rattle noise after it warms up, mainly while sitting still with me holding the bike up.
It seems to be coming from somewhere about the engine, etc.
If I put pressure on the motor with my foot , like the primary, the rattle will stop. I have check shift linkage, lower heim joints, etc. I can't get to the one under the tank. But it seems to be tight.
Any suggestions, as this is driving me more crazy than I am. I also check all exhaust heat shields, etc. If I rev the motor it stops rattling. Could the lower front motor mount be bad?
thanks for any suggestions.
I had a similar rattle and my compensator sprocket had loosed up. I did the paper towel tube trick to listen for the rattle. Put the tube on the front part of the primary and could hear the rattle inside. Just had to tighten it up. No cost involved as I did it myself.
My road king developed a rattle as well when it warmed up. Found the exhaust pipe mount bolt at the crossover where the mount attaches to the engine was a bit loose. Tighten bolt and rattle went away and stayed away.
take a rubber mallet and bang stuff like the floorboards..
sometimes the floor boards are quiet with weight on them ( feet) but'll rattle at idle
...
I discovered yesterday that my left footboard has a rattle. It does not rattle at idle but when hitting potholes, heaves, bumps in the road that are big enough, it does make a "clack" that I was trying to isolate. It seems to be the insert that causes the rattle and the right side does not not it. FWIW
