I was riding in a downpour and my gauges and radio went in the fritz. Several times I got a BUS Err in the odometer and the speed and tach went to zero, check engine light would also come on. Then the speedo and tach would come back to life. But the radio stayed dead. Well about 5 hours later, still raining but not as bad the radio tired to come back on but no sound. So I hit the power button o. The radio and it did go I to standby mode and the clock was showing. Then I got hit by another downpour and the clock faded away. The bike has now been sitting for about 3 hours in the garage and when I checked it the radio did play music but cannot see anything on the screen. I hit the audio button on left control and try to adjust the contrast and nothing happens. But I know I am in the adjustment mode because I can adjust the bass, treble, and fader. Guess these bikes were not ment to be ridden in the rain. Will have to see what the dealer says.
Tried to turn it off but could not, it just kept on blinking and then wept out. Would have stopped to let it dry up some but the rain was not letting up and I had to get to the house.
I wasn't in the rain last Saturday, but lost my display too. I can barely see some indication of the info but for all intents the display is unreadable. A day or two prior the radio was dropping one speaker or the other on a random basis. Since the display went out I haven't had the speakers cutting out. How weird is that? Unfortunately I'm on the road until the end of the month so I won't be taking it in until Oct. sucks not having a display or radio problems.
My dad had the same thing happen to him last month. He said it was the circuit board the operates the indicators for the turn signals and check engine light and a few other things. Once he replaced the board ($20 or so) everything came back as expected. That was the hardest rain I have ever been in. When we were on a bridge we were all going about 10mph and the rain was blowing left to right.
I had that happen. Display went out and radio continued to work fine. I thought it was from getting wet but it turned out to be a bad faceplat connection. I pulled the radio, removed the faceplate and gently widened the connectors. Reassembled with a bit more silicon to seal. Display and controls have worked perfectly since. I don't think your codes are related to the radio. You can just about by a better head unit for the cost of getting the crappy HK fixed.
