So I have an 09 SG with A/C, SE255's, V&H Big Radius 2:2 and PCV w/autotune and just rolled over 10K and the last 2K there has been a noise that sounds like you take a spring off a screen door and flick it. It only happens if I roll into the throttle hard or even with the cruise set hitting hills and riding 2 up. My thoughts are pinging from gas but done the 90 plus octane or compensator, anyone have any issues like this and or opinions. Theres nothing loose anywhere that I've found as of yet??????
Noise is coming from the right, I'll have to wait to try holding the tank as soon as I get my tuner back from Dyno Jet. Was having issues with the bike lugging after sitting at a light for any length of time. Sounds are so hard to express but its like a a spring or even a rubber band pulled tight between the fingers and flipped, if thats octane knock that far from the old V8 knock for sure. Thanks for the advice.
ping sounds exactly like there are pebbles hitting the bottom side of the front fender. If your sound is WAY different, then it's not ping.
What intake are you running? Do you still have the old football? For ***** and giggles, if you do, reinstall the whole football and see if the sound goes away. There are some that cannot stand the noise the FBW makes when all open to the elements.
If the football gets rid of the noise, then reinstall your Stage 1 AC and now the noise is nothing to worry about.... the Throttle Body is 'fluttering' like stated above for the same reasons some Mikuni Carbs have slide rattle... nature of the beast.
