I bought my 07 RKC used from the dealer. They said it had the stage 1 upgrades. My question is, do they do the computer upgrades as a download or is it a piggyback. I have looked under the seat and the removeable side plates but haven't observed anything. Any help will be appreciated.
If you haven't done it; save your money and put it towards an aftermarket fuel management system. The download re-programs the ECM; basically all it does is raise the rev limit to 6200 and make very minor adjustments to the A/F and timing; not worth the $150 or whatever they are charging these days.
Furthermore, the download is not compatible with aftermarket A/F and exhaust.
The Dealer stage 1 is Slipon's, SE air filter and a download. It's a download map that raises the rev limiter and a/f adjustment slightly. If you plan to leave it as is, it will be fine.
I was thinking about trying to change the tune. It doesn't seem correct to me. I was reving it a little and it was shooting a bit of flame out of the right pipe. Seems to run a little rich to me. If I add a piggyback, do I need to have the stock tune downloaded to start with?
Talk about serendipitous ( coincedence) . I'm buying the exact same bike next week; '07 FLHP with Stage 1 and true duals. Would the slip-ons be all the same? They look like 3" slash cuts and are way louder than stock. The bike only has 13K miles on it and runs like a scalded ape.
Correction: slip ons are 3" straight cuts.
