I ride in the rain quite a bit down here in Florida so ABS was a must when I bought my bike. I've only been able to get it to activate once and that was on purpose on a wet road. I wanted to see what it felt like so I'd know what to expect. If I never need to use it for real that will be great but it's nice to know it's there.

It's interesting to note that we all are expert riders and can threshold brake in a hard stop in uncontrolled conditions to avoid a catastrophe and maybe a future wheel chair if we live.

So let's see, it's 430 PM and 450 miles have been covered, you have been riding since 7 AM. You are running 60 mph, it's windy all day, you are fatigued, even though rest stops are occurring every 45 minutes...a large 300 lb deer runs out...you are going threshold brake and miss the deer without ABS...Hardly, you will crash, I promise

What happen when you spike the rear brakes on a FL? They lock up!! Locked brakes do not allow control of a motor vehicle. Ask my friend Doug who will never ride again because he high-sided when the rear wheel locked in a panic stop in rural VT. Road King without ABS.

BTW the above deer incident happened to me in far western -very rural Kansas, except the anti lock brakes saved my bacon. 09 Ultra. 1400 miles from home. West of Edmond KS population 41.

If you plan on doing road trips where you are likely to be riding more in bad weather I think it is a good idea. My bike does not have ABS and I have had no problems but would get it if I had the purchase to do over. JMO!

My next touring bike will definitely have ABS.

you have rocks in your head if you dont take advantage of safety feature like ABS.

My thoughts too. I had a pretty close call a few months back - really glad I had it

-1. It's not that cut and dried. And if you had been one of the few who experienced the downside to Moco ABS (a few examples here and many more if you do a search) you would think you have to have rocks in your head to buy a product that is so flawed.

Don't get me wrong - I think the concept of ABS is great. Some manufacturers have it dialed in and I wouldn't be without it in those cases (BMW's is excellent). But, the Moco system is far from perfected and in some cases, downright frightening. I'll try tweaking the suspension to see if that cures the problem. If not, I'll never buy another Moco bike with it (unless they significantly improve it).

I read some of the stories about flawed abs scenarios. I can see the rear wheel being a problem on a rough road. However the front wheel in a braking situation should be glued to the road. The rear wheel is the only wheel I have had lock up prior to abs.
