Planning on doing this, I too would like to hear from others who have.
CT to CA maybe in time for Sturgis so we can stop 1/2 way for a few days rest from the road.

I've done it more times than I can remember, north and south too. I've kept it at 80 and above through the western and some of the mid western states. The eastern states are a little more populated and more cops. You don't need to worry about the bike, keep you eyes open for the cops.

Oops, I should point out here, more times than I can remember includes all my bikes and over forty years. Can't say I never had any problems but long miles at high speed never hurt any of my bikes. For a Harley touring bike the longest trip I took was from Minnesota to Quebec/New Brunswick then down to the Florida Keys then out to California and back to Minnesota. I've been on many one thousand mile trips (approximately). All I can say is the bike holds up better than I do, when I have to stop it is not because the bike can't go any farther.

Done it north to south, Colorado Springs to Naples Florida, to the UP of Michigan Copper Harbor on Lake Superior, made a round trip to Boston one year as well. Enjoy what the touring bikes are made to do, long hauls.
