Damn SE Comp!!!!
It's been just a tad over 8000 miles since I installed the SE Compensator and now again I'm starting to get the "marbles in a tin can" sound when I start the bike. The sound stops after a few moments and it doesn't happen every time I start the bike, yet.
The pisser is, I just had the primary open a few weeks ago to install the Hayden tensioner.
It's a never ending battle to fix stuff on these bikes that is should be manufactured right the first time around.

What are you using for lubrication? I changed out my OEM comp for an SE and did have a noisy primary for several hundred miles. I had been running Syn3 in all three holes, but I swapped out the primary and tranny with Formula+ and it's like a new bike. All I can hear are the pipies.

So what ya gonna do now HDV, go back to the stock one or rebuild the SE?
How many miles did you have on the stocker, when she went bad?
When you do the repair or get it fixed, let us know what went bad in the SE?
Also, do you know what went wrong with the stocker?
Is it due to galling from lack of lubrication or bolts coming loose or what, why they go bad?

This doesn't help, but I have a buddy with an '09 Ultra that has 40K miles. He luckily has the extended warranty as that thing is always in for warranty repair. It is completely stock other than SE slip ons and LED lights. Everything from compensator to switch relays. Last year he had an oil leak and I don't remember what was replaced on the motor or tranny for that. He is retired and rides alot, but never dogs it or anything.
The OP is right on when he commented about the moco making it right the first time. Of course any moving part could fail, but seems to happen often. Almost as if they want them to fail to get us in to the stealers.

I am on my 2nd stock compensator and with all the issues i have seen with the SE i think i will stick with the stock....73000 miles on it and i expect for it to fail within the next 25000...

As far as rebuilding the SE Comp, I had no idea you could do that and if so, what parts to you swap out? Maybe Dawg will chime in about the rebuild-able parts.
I was just going to throw in a new SE Comp at $190 (w/ 20% discount), cross my fingers and hope for the best.

I was thinking maybe it's time for a new battery (org. battery from 08) but maybe it has something to do with the compensator.
