Default Another Speaker Question!

Ok OK, I know so many have commented on the speaker amp issue. But I am wondering, I ran across a major high end bike builder that is working with Rockford and is pushing the RF Amp 300x4 in conjuction with Rockford Power series 6.5 and 5.25 speakers.

Has anyone tried these, most the kids I talk to into the speaker and audio thing are mixed, some will say polk but most say the RF will be much better.

Any ideas?

Oh by the way this is going in a 07 Ultra

Also anyone else running a 4 channel amp and are they still using the fader or running in two channel mostly.

Thanks for any input.

I'm going with the Polk's because they are marine rated. PBR300x4 with 4 6.5 BD651's. The speakers will be here tomorrow and I should have them installed by the weekend.

When I put the CVO lower speaker boxes in, I will go with a PBR300x2 and the DB6501 component speakers with the tweets mounted on the inner fairing.

According to post #33 of this thread....

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...way-comes.html

....you can put 6.5 MM series Polk speakers in the Tour Pak pods, you just have to drill new mounting holes. Can't see why the MM and DB series would be so drastically different.

MM's are 2.7-ohm. DB's are 4-ohm. PBR300x4 is 4-ohm only. If I went with the MM speakers, I would need to use 2 PBR300x2's, which are 2-ohm stable, instead of the one PBR300x4.

Default Another idea or question

Went looking at speakers and such last night and today, hear some JL Audio C2 6.5 speakers that sounded awesome and the place said there put them into harley a lot. They recommend using a Alpine 180 watt amp, they say it is much cleaner than the RF. Also they said the JL may not work in the fairing with most the adapters sold on line, I think they are wanting me to spend 60 through them instead of buying from the net. Has anyone used JL Audio 6.5 or the Alpine amp vs the RF
