I don't know about that. If you look at that droid chick long enough her right *** cheek almost looks a bit distorted. I actually would put in a vote for the cowgirl in your avatar stro. I've always been kinfa' fond of that one.

Oh nearly forgot. I too enjoy my heel shifter and use it on every up shift. As others have said, no more worn spot on the boot.

So now we have a definitive answer on who to wave back to. From now on, if you don't have a heel shifter on your scoot, I ain't wavin' back. So just fuggitaboudit!.....you poser.

Not sure what it has to do with posers. Honda and Yamaha big cruisers have them. Maybe it is the posers that use the heel-toe shifter.

Default Heel toe shifter

Got started riding many years ago w/ mid shift controls on my 76 FXE. Moved to a touring bike in 92, FLHTC. Didn't feel right so didn't use it. 3 dressers latter and I don't have one on my bike. I'm tall (6'5") and my legs are so bent that to raise my heel up to shift down sucks. I do it all with my toe and as I am not in a fashion show, I don't much care about boot scuffs. (Really Nancy, boot scuffs?) My, things have come along way in the last 40+ years.

Back when some of us started riding Harleys, some of them didn't have heel-toe shifters (1976 FXE) so I guess all who came before you were just posers. Putz.

Two baggers, two heel shifters removed within the first week.

I remember the day I picked up my new Road King after many years for toe shifting. I had it in mind that I would continue to toe-shift. But as I pulled out of the dealer's lot and tried to shift up to second I noticed that my toe would not slip under the shifter. But I managed to catch enough of the shifter to get 2nd gear. As I accelerated down the boulevard I went for 3rd and tried the toe thing again. Damn, this ain't gonna work! So for the first time I pulled a heel shift and got to 3rd. I felt clumsy as hell but managed the 20 mile ride home, thinking all the way, I'm gonna pull that heel shifter off and lift the toe shifter.

So many of you have already told the same story in slightly different ways but that was many months ago. The shifters are both still there and in the original positions and I'm loving the setup. Like most of the rest of you I grew comfortably into it and now find it intuitive and completely natural. I like it!

I like it cause I don't scuff my boot and my size 13 foot is comfortable shifting.

I use a light tap on the heel shifter to find neutral. I find it a little easier. Use the toe other than that.
