Just hook both right speaker wires to the right amp output and both left speaker wires to the left amp output = 2ohm parallel hookup.

Series hookup is R1+R2, parallel hookup is a bit more complicated. When running speakers in parallel it's R1XR2 divided by R1+R2. In this case running 4 ohm speakers in parallel would be R1 (4) times R2 (4) =16 ohms, divided by R1 (4) plus R2 (4) = 8 ohms. 16 divided by 8 equals a final impedance of 2 ohms.

Now if you connect 4 , 4 ohm speakers in parallel wouldn't the impedance drop to 1 ohm? or is my math wrong in this case?.. And that obviously wouldn't be optimal to power these speakers?... must be missing something lol.. Again still learning this stuff so it may be very simple and i could be completely wrong lol..

Can someone help me determine how long I can run my cd player off the battery then start the bike, assuming a good battery? I (currently) have the HK head unit driving a HogTune 70.2 and Focal PC 165s.

Marc, don't over think this bud.. the way this works; by connecting 2 - 4ohm speakers in parallel (2 for each channel of the amp, right and left) brings the load the amp will see to 2ohms. You are good to go in this configuration. But to answer your first question; yes wiring 4 - 4ohm speakers in parallel would in fact give you a 1ohm load. This is not the way you'll be wiring this up as you'll only be using 2 speakers per channel.

You kind of bummed me out! I have been a long time JL fanatic when I used to be into car stereo. Just recently upgraded my street glide and went with the Arc, am very happy with it but if I knew the JL would fit in there I would have went with that!

Help me out here, the Polk Audio's say on the website and Crutchfield that they are 4 ohm, everyone says they are 2.7 (or so) ohm. What am I missing?
Can I wire those in parallel or series with a pair of Hertz to work with an Arc 2 channel?
Thanks.

they are not 4 ohm.. they are actually 2.7 ohm speakers.

Which Arc amp and which hertz speakers do you currently have?

Polks come in several impedances, the DB and DXI lines are 4 ohm, the MM line is 2.7 ohm, and the MM Ultra Marine line is 4 ohms. Running 2.7 ohm MM speakers in parallel with 4 ohm Hertz speakers will give a final impedance of 1.6 ohms, which might cause problems with a 2 ohm stable amp. Best to call the manufacturer to confirm that you won't overstress the amp.
