Audio Freaks
But one thing I learned from the whole experience is this.
What sounds awesome in the parking lot, doesn't sound that way @ 80 mph. That is all I am trying to say here.
Look at what your long term goals are and what you want from your system. Do you want a parking lot Queen or do you want the best tunes you can get while riding 80 mph?
If you mainly want riding tunes? Don't go all out and install a $5000 system.
I sure as hell don't want to discourage you from doing your sound system. As for me, I love mine but I have talked to a few guys who dumped a couple thousand into a sound system that were disappointed in the sound while riding.
Your choice in $500 speakers may sound just as good as a set of $150 Polks is what I am getting at here.
and essentially i want whatever is clear and loud at 80 and ill be a happy camper !
When I started planning this instal, I tried like hell to find someone with a similar system so I could hear with my own ears what I was getting in to. Since my system is so close to what GLACIERPEARL did, I wish I was closer to him so I could have heard it and get some first hand knowledge before I went shopping for my stuff.
Like I said though, it is one bad *** sounding system. I think I just expected a little more at 80 mph than physics will allow.
I am 100% happy with the system though and would do it again in a heart beat.

Thats the hard part, i want to make sure what i get will be what i want and again, i dont need anything to make my eardrums bleed but i also want to do it right the first time..Im now looking into the Focal Pc 165/130 combo and a 500 w amp.. looking at the J&M ..i know i know J&m is overpriced but i like the plug and play....I guess i would rather spend a little too much but make sure ill get what i need than spend less and not be happy...even though it may be what i need lol...

I chose the Alpine PDX-F6 based on pure performance. It is one of the most efficient amps out there in that class. All digital and draws less power on your system than any other. At least thats what I found through researching amps when I bought mine.
I remember hearing GLACIERPEARL say that he could run his system for 30 minutes or more without draining the battery and could still crank the bike. I was a bit skeptical about that at the time.
But I tested mine out last weekend and ran it at about 50% volume for a solid 40 minutes and the bike cranked up just fine. This is with 2 600 watt amps!
If you are set on only installing the amp in the fairing? Then your choices are limited. But personally, I would consider the Alpine PDX-F6 and install it in the bag or tour pack.
To me, it's like shopping for a computer. I want something that is upgradable or expandable. If you decide to go bigger with your system, you would have to completely redo the whole thing. Where as if you went with a bigger amp/s from the start, it's just a matter of reconfiguring your existing system.
Good luck with whatever you choose and please update us with what you did! I like seeing people get crazy with their rides......

I have no clue on what would be an efficient amp lol...especially to what i can mount in the fairing..ill find it , again i just don't want to do it twice
I hope whatever you do you post the results and parts used here. I'm thinking about upgrading my system for next years winter project, this winter I'm painting. So I'm just beginning my research phase and will be VERY interested in how yours turns out. Currently I'm running the BOOM! audio amplifier and upgraded speakers in my '11 Limitied but above 75 MPH or so some songs become hard to hear so I want to get good sound at 80 BUT not get too crazy.

or if you happen to be local to Anaheim CA come by the shop and let us do a demo for you I can assure you that if you are a true Audio Freak you will be blown away at the systems we put together

You hit the nail on the head with this statement above. I as well as others have posted this same thing for quite some time. I fortunately didn't have to spend $1k on speakers to find it out though. At some point you simply have to accept the fact that @ highway speeds, nothing you do is going to improve your sound quality (obviously aside from moving away from stock). It is what it is guys.. Wind and audio do not mix, PERIOD!
I'm not a "parking lot queen" and 99.9% of the time when my bike is parked, it's off and locked. I don't pull up at a bar to sit outside jamming, I WANT BEER!
