Is it difficult installing the Harley front fork 1" lowering kits? And do I need to just add oil? cuz didn't really want or need to take completly apart only got 600 miles on bike. I was told did not have to take completly apart to install these, just gettn other opinions..
hi.the harley kit.is..the damper is shorter .1.or.2 inches .harley have 2 numbers. the damper are in lower leg. hold by allen bolts. under front axel.you have to remove whatever is on front off your bike .whell fender light fairing .to have acces to your fork tube cap..screw . may be able to pull the tube with out pulling the top tree . this is a projet . mrfuji
I have not used the Harley kit but instead installed progressive monotubes to get front end 1" lower. I highly recommend the monotubes based on my experience. Much firmer suspension. My bike was also almost new when I did this. The monotubes also do not use oil for damping.
I have never been into front suspension before doing this but with the service manual and the forum here was a fairly straightforward job.
Just my 2 cents; your mileage may vary.

+1 on installing the MonoTubes. Its about a 2-3 hour install and well worth it.

Question about the monotubes.
If you install the monotubes, would that also be a good time to install the chrome forks and cowbells? Also, by using the monotubes, do you totally eliminate the oil?

That's exactly what I did. Also, there is a very small amount of oil used with the Monotubes and its only used for lubrication purposes.
