how do I remove plug from headlight

I had the same problem last week. Tried everything. There are 2 push lock releases on the plug. I finally popped the back off the plug and found the locking pin broken. Since the dealer had to remove the outer fairing to install the NIM, I suspect it was damaged then. A small screwdriver released it and the plug slid right off.

Thanks for everyones input. How did I miss those @#$%$ tabs on the side? What is frustrating is the service manual did not say a thing about squeezing the tabs. I can expect that from a Haynes automotive manual but you would think that a H-D service manual would be a little more detailed. Maybe its so simple that most mechanically inclined persons would figure it out before ruining there bulb. Anyway thanks. And on to upgrading my stereo system. Trying to put speakers in my lowers and my saddlebags. What can I say, I love my music. It aint the same without some good tunes blaring out my speakers. Can't wait till I get it all hooked up.
