hey everyone it looks like I am going to have to put tires on my Electra glide this winter and I think everyone here is my best way to figuring out what some of the better brands are for my bike. anything you can do to point me in the right direction would be appreciated. Thanks guys
I picked up a Michelin commander II for the rear, but they don't make a 18" front ! I bought that Brand because they are suppose to be the best of both worlds with longevity and good wet grip. Metzler is the same story, great tire, but no 18"front. Dumb-laps suck ! IMO. A good sticky tire doesn't last long but grips well, one that lasts long is slippery. I'm going to go with an Avon Venom for the front, had them before and was happy. Probably going with Avon all the way around in the future. They have a great reputation ! I figure if they can please the bloody English ( and you know how **** they are ....lol ) they have to be good !
Yea the balance between grip and longevity is what I'm looking for I bought the bike to ride but I don't want to have to purchase a new tire every season unless that is all tires last I'm not sure this is my first street going bike.
Ive had the Dunlaps, i dont care for them, everytime i put a new one on the rear it felt like i was riding on ice for the 1st 1000 miles they lasted around 10,000 on the rear. My last tire was a Metzler, i liked it, i was pleased with the handling and everything except i only got 6000 miles out of it and yeah i kept the air checked in it. Two weeks ago i put a Michelin Commander II in, good tracton, and ive riden in the rain alot the last couple weeks, handles good, but thats about all i can tell you about it, give me a year and ill tell ya about milage lol. Hope that helps ya some, if not, its all i got, ride safe,
