What did a custom tune cost you and were you happy with it ?
If you haven't already, take a look at Doc's post for some basic info.
Also remember the time and completeness on any tune will depend on the type of tuning system used, skill of the operator, and expectations of the bike's owner.
Dealer did mine... charged 4 hours I believe... Can't complain about how she runs at all. WAY better than my old bike ran with same cams and pipes just the SE download and a set of XIEDs
mine was $300 for the dyno. there were little things like a loose muffler clamp $8 and other little **** but yeah it made a huge difference in the way it ran. I did just have a canned map from Fuel Moto and he was even able to find some more Power!!!! (thats just absurd) haha jkjk
Mine was $250 for 1 1/2hr long dyno tune. Very happy with my tuner guy here in San Pedro, Cali. Southside Johnny (tuner) ran through step by step on the whole process.
Best tuner I've ever used is Ed at Dyno Difference in Dallas, TX
$400 for the tune!!
I agree, Ed does it right. Not just WFO. He calibrates the TBW first, then tunes at each % of throttle, and under different loads using a brake dyno.
Here is my Dyno Difference chart on my 09 Ultra with the HD 103 kit installed by the dealer. Please note the exhaust is pure stock. The kit came with a cat in the collector, but I did not use that, I used the stock system. I have the HD SE air filter and a K&N element, SE 255 Cams, Mobil 1 15w50 oil. This was four years ago, no I have about 38,000 happy miles.
Tuner is a TTS Mastertune. The green line is me tuning the TTS myself by driving and collecting data with V-Tune and importing it per the TTS instructions. Red line is Ed's improvement.
