Mike man, I understand your not feeling the purple, but like a few others said....please dont paint over it. Love it or hate it, the original purples are hard to find, when is the last time you saw a Plum Crazy Purple Cuda sitting around in the parking lot at your local. The comments you get today of " nice purple bike " will not be the comments of tomorrow like " OMG thats so different and unique, WHAT, you say its a factory colour!!! No way! " Either way you go man, hope the factory Tins get a chance to stay the OG Purple. Good Luck.
I think this will be the inspiration when I paint mine. Pictures do it no justice.
Tank badge is a blatant knock off of the Hells Angels Death-head.
Moco better be careful or they'll be getting sued.
Angels are pretty sensitve to that kind of enfringement and rightly so I might add.
Had the Deep Cobalt Blue on my '07 Road King. Was a killer color that I constantly got compliments on. They only used that color for a couple of years so you don't see it much. Here is the code list:
Me personally I love blues with silver, a dark rich royal blue metallic, with silver, or a darker silver-grey looks incredible IMO. I agree with tryin to sell the original tins, or try to find a trade, then paint those.
If that is true, you should keep the purple. Purple is always a limited edition color for Harley so there are very few on the road. It takes a real man to ride a purple Harley. I get lots of complements on my bike, especially from attractive women. I get approached at gas stations and parking lots almost every time I'm parked.
If it's not really true, paint it "vivid black" or, if you feel really daring, "denim black." You might want to put a beeper on it though so you can find it in the crowd.
The situation on my bike was exactly the opposite of what you describe. My bike was "previously owned" and appeared on the dealer website before it appeared on the floor. I put a hold on it before I saw it. When I went in to buy it, there were literally 2 guys waiting in line behind me to buy it if I didn't go through with the purchase.
Bottom line though, it's a matter of taste. I like purple, you don't. But why ask US what YOU should like? (Even though I'd never buy one, there are actually alot of people out there who LIKE black bikes, believe it or not! )
Pretty much agree here. Had black bikes, red bikes, and blue bikes. Purple has generated more gas station / parking lot conversations than all of them combined. TKDKurt is right about who's starting the conversations too.
Mine's a dark big purple flake that changes from black to blue to purple depending on what the light is like. It's hard to photograph, but it really pops in the sun. If purple is still in consideration, maybe you just need a darker, deeper purple.
Yeah, I agree about the purple. I can't stand purple bikes, but to each their own. Lots are saying the same thing about my root beer color, but its not purple. I went to Sturgis, and only saw 1 root beer bike the whole week. Ask me how many black bikes I saw. If your gonna paint over the purple, go to a custom bike show and get ideas. I do love that candy cranberry tho!
LOL, the bike you saw was probably mine...
For the first couple of rides, my riding buddies yawned at my color, both cloudy days. The first sunny day? it's like they saw the color for the first time.
Before I went with the root beer, I REALLY thought about buying the purple and black one parked next to my bike.
If I had a purple bike I would paint it Denim Black I LOVE that color so much! If my black cherry was not so stunning in the sun I would re spray my bike.
Or paint it a white denim those look awesome too then black out some other parts....oh crap just gave myself an idea...
