Im looking for an electra glide or street glide. I found an 03 with 42k miles with most of the things i want to do for $8500. Now at that price i have enough left over from selling my bike to have Hillside do the motor the way i want. What else would need to be done to a bike with this mileage? I figure atleast tires and a motor mount or to and most likely brake pads.
Whats everone think of buying a bike with this mileage? What else should i look for or plan on replacing? Belt and swingarm bushings?
I have a 2012 with 20,000 miles so to me that's really not high at all for an 03. Is it from a dealer? If so try and get the 50k service thrown in..that's a big and pricey one.
I sold a 2004 with 36k on it with a 95" motor last year for $10,000. If it was cared for you should be all set. But I would toss a set of lifters at it and check the chain tensioners.
Is the only real issue with an 03 the cam tensioners? Because i want to upgrade that anyways. Anything else that would be a good idea to upgrade. Also from what i can find 03 is supposed to have a forged crank does anyone know if this is true?

Well you could check the tires, lube clutch cable, throttle cable and check for frayed cable at the ends.Lube the cruise control cable if it has it,change the fork oil, check the shift rod joints, check the rear shift arm bolt, remove the front shift shaft in the case and lube..............basically a full service.
And many here will tell you to buy a FSM.
I bought an 01 EGC last year it had 27K and now 32K. It's carbed and runs great! The only thing that went bad was the stator but that's because the battery went bad.
