Have your crank run out checked before you dump any money into the engine.

The money you spend on an engine upgrade will make your bike worth no more later on trade, the money spent on the CVO will still be there when you go to trade. As SCJ says you get a lot more than just the 110, plus your exhaust will fit right on the CVO. Looks like it's about even as to what to do,guess you'll have to make up your own mind.

How much power do you want? I put the Fullsac stage 2 kit in my 110" CVO, these kits usually produce numbers in the 100hp/110tq range give or take a little bit and they run pretty nice for a bagger.

Just for comparison..... I paid 22,500 for my 2006 SEUC in 2008 with 13,000 miles on it. It's got 38,000 on it now, still worth 19-20,000. I have added some stuff, but I can't expect to recover all that investment. On the other hand, a non-cvo ultra, 2006 retailed for 20,000. You can get a nice low mileage one now for about 12-13,000. I don't care how much chrome and goodies you add to a stocker, even the Harley dealer only allows 10-20% of actual cost when you trade in.

The 110 makes plenty of power once you get rid if the cat and add a good stage 1 setup. Mine's got a Fat cat and a PC-V. runs plenty good enough for me. I'm into touring not racing. However a built engine would run better. The 2010 CVO ultra's were a really good looking bike IMHO. If you weigh all the stuff included on it. At least for me, spending $7500 difference it'd be hard to pass up a CVO.
I don't buy the argument that they all look the same. That's like saying all black street glides look the same. You do see a sister bike every once in awhile but even sisters are somewhat different. Go CVO and don't look back. Which color you looking at?

Your ride and 10K for a used CVO.
That is not a real deal. CVO's for the most part are not that big on resale Just not a big demand .
To do it just for the engine no way.
However if you look at that CVO and you just have to have it the whole package is what you in for then it would be a different story.
2-2500 for a bit more power will be paid off long before the CVO will be.

Yeah but it's 10k! Then you also have to consider how much more your losing with the mods you've already done. Yeah resale is better but a motorcycle is not an investment.

I was in the same situation a few months ago. Had I gone with a CVO I'd have zero loot for anything else. Instead I got a new RKC and thousands left for extras. CVO is all looks. All show no go (stock)

My example was a 2011 CVO SG (used) $29k. Instead I got a 2012 RKC Classic new for $20k.
